It’s my birthday weekend and we’re kicking it off with Game Night. Everybody is bringing some snacks to share. I briefly thought about whipping up some birthday cupcakes but realized that my schedule is a bit full today and baking was just not going to fit into the day. Darn. But Nate’s got my back. He came home with a jar of Junior Johnson’ Midnight Moon. Nate decided to try our their Apple Pie flavor this time around. I rarely indulge in spirituous drinks but midnight moon (especially lighting lemonade) is awfully tasty and if I can’t have cupcakes, this seems like the prefect little sweet birthday indigence to share with everybody.

Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon comes from the nearby Piedmont Distillery and I think a distillery tour will be on our to-do list this year. You know we always like to support the local people here in Carolina. The myth of Midnight Moon is that it is a legal version of the Johnson family’s generations old moonshine recipe. Junior Johnson has a storied past of bootlegging and car racing and is one of NASCAR’s early legends. I don’t know who designs their packaging and marketing but I think they do a great job. They capture the nostalgia of Carolina’s moonshine history.
