I was feeling a little under the weather last Sunday and I have to admit that watching the Super Bowl was not near enough incentive to relinquish my comfy bed and a good book. So I happily snuggled in at the house while Nate headed off to meet some friends and to watch the game in Saxapahaw. I did however, make sure he had a camera in hand before he walked out the door. Nate’s first stop was Cup 22 for some coffee and pre-game entertainment. The weekly Sunday jam session, known as Bubbadoc’s Acoustic Community, was in full swing. If you are a local musician, you might want to join in one of these Sundays.

I don’t even drink coffee, but Cup 22 makes me want to. Luckily they have snacks, soft drinks and other options.

As game time arrived, they headed over to the Farm Table Room at The Eddy Pub. Usually there are absolutely no TVs at the pub. I love this about The Eddy, because it means that conversation, community and food take precedence over media consumption. But the pub is also at the heart of the Saxapahaw community, so they decided to show the game in the side room that is used for events and private parties. While I can’t say I’m sorry to have missed the game, I was sorry to miss out on seeing all of you, our lovely friends.
