In case you didn’t know, we are long time supporters and volunteers for Company Shops Market, a “local food for local people” co-op grocery that will soon be opening in downtown Burlington NC. More recently, we took on the part-time job of handling the marketing / PR / branding for the co-op. Which included redesigning the brochures. I think they turned out well and it is always great to see the final product in use.
On Wednesday evening, we gathered at Maria’s Italian Restaurant in Burlington, NC for a community dinner with other owners of Company Shops Market. Owners are sort of like members. Because Company Shops is a Co-op, you have the opportunity to buy an ownership share that entitles you to a vote in how the grocery store is run as well as a small discount on purchases at the store.
The food was delicious and Maria’s is one of our favorite local restaurants. We filled our tummies with Tomato Caprese, Fried Calamari, Fresh Baked Bread, House Salad (with Cheese!), Fresh Homemade Gnocci,
Chicken Alla Romana, Eggplant Parmigiana, Chicken Florrentine and Tiramisu for dessert. If you are local here in Alamance County, you should check them out. The restaurant is located at 162 Holly Hill Ln., Burlington, NC, 27215.
As the primary event planner, I was thrilled at how the evening went. We has full use of a side room at the restaurant where we set up two long table so everybody could eat family style. You may not know anyone when you show up but you will by the time you leave, judging by the din that was created by everyone happily chatting and eating together on Wednesday.
