The kitchen is filled with laughter and camaraderie as a Christmas feast is prepared.
Guests arrive with delicious offerings
from greenbeans wrapped in homegrown bacon,
to scratch-made pies.
As we gather round the table, we enjoy the fruits of our labor.
It has been a busy year in Saxapahaw, culminating in the much anticipated opening of the The Eddy.
This new local watering hole just opened in the last couple of weeks. It has been a labor of love in the making and it shows. When people walk into the space they feel a strong sense of hospitality, like they are being welcomed onto the livingroom of friend.
There is a sense of history and pride of place. The Eddy is housed in the former mill in Saxapahaw and has kept it’s industrial character. The bar is adorned with dismantled old carts from the mill. The lovely textured walls are made from old drying racks. The tables are made from flooring reclaimed from the mill during renovation.
Thank you, Cameron, for coming up with the lovely idea to host a gathering of friends for Christmas brunch.
