I hope you all had a fabulous holiday weekend. Nate and I spent our Memorial Day morning learning how to play Petanque, a French yard game similar in nature to Bocce. We played on the courts at the beautiful Inn at Bingham School. As we pulled up the drive and rolled down the windows of the car, we could hear the crunch of tires on the gravel and the steady soothing hum of the cicadas. We stepped through the white picket fence and down the brick path past the nearly 200 year old inn which is surrounded by pretty gardens. Under the shade of huge old trees are two petanque courts. The perfect setting for a morning of mimosas and sport with friends.

After the game, we took a tour of the property as Innkeeper François Deprez regaled us with the history of Inn. Despite all of us living within a short radius of the inn, when we saw the beautiful rooms we all wished that we could stay there too. If you are looking for a beautiful, historic place to hole up for a weekend or a place to hold a wedding reception, this would be gorgeous choice. They are located just about 15 minutes outside the Chapel Hill area so they’re conveniently located and is plenty to do nearby. Plus you and your guests can enjoy a diverting game of Petanque.

For those of you who played in the tournament, you can find more photos here.
