Tonight Nate and I headed over to one of our favorite Thai restaurants for Friday Night Happy Hour. Who can resist half price appetizers? I brought along my new camera and decided to test out the kit lens that came with it.

Yes, that’s me getting ready to take a bit of delectable pot stickers (ground chicken and shrimp dumpling covered with panang curry sauce) from Anna Thai Cafe in Burlington NC.

It was cloudy outside and the sun was going down so it was a bit dark in the restaurant for doing available light photography (no flash). The lens isn’t as crisp as I’d like it to be, but you have to keep in mind that this is a very affordable lens (just $100 more to buy the camera in a kit that includes this lens) being used in less than ideal circumstances.
