We had a lovely time in Saxapahaw this evening. It was heartwarming to see nearly every seat filled at this evening’s screening of American Meat, a documentary exploring the challenges of raising livestock in America and the creative and innovative ways farmers are working to bring positive change to the industry. We are proud to call a number of the panelists friends. People like Eliza MacLean of Cane Creek Farm, Suzanne Nelson of Cozi Farm and Jeff Barney of the Saxapahaw General Store. Each of these individuals have affected, enhanced and challenged the way Nate and I think about our food. Putting a face behind the people responsible for raising your food is a powerful thing. We saw quite a few familiar faces in the crowd…. Many farmers, foodies, chefs, and food activists who have brought flavor and richness into our life. Thank you all. We are proud to know you.
