A few photographs from last evening. To start the night off right, we grabbed a few friends and headed over to Company Shops Market Co-op Grocery for dinner and a wine tasting. Justin Johnson was playing his gypsy jazz and blues live in the co-op cafe and pulled out is cool cigar box guitar made by HWY 55 Guitars.
After dinner, we made our way to the Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw NC. Miss Lizzy Ross opened up the night there, playing solo.
We stopped by Cup 22, the Haw River Ballroom’s in-house coffee shop.
They had plenty of yummy snacks like pretzel bites with dijon mustard dipping sauce, peppermint brownies and slices of brownstone front (think chocolate) cake.
The venue was at near capacity and we decided not to muscle out ways toward the front, so I didnt have much of a view when Sarah Jarosz came on stage… especially with me being a bit on the short side. I’m no music connoisseur, and can claim no particular expertise but to my ears, the music was truly beautiful. The fiddle work delightful. I really can’t imagine being able to move my fingers that fast but I sure appreciate the chance to listen.
After the show, we were thrilled to see that the Will & Pops Food Truck was still serving up goodness outside. The boys went to get the car (parked down the street in a field used for overflow parking) while we perused the menu and tried to make up our minds. We ended up selecting The Hippy – grilled cheese with guacamole and a Rasta – jerk chicken with mango chutney.
We planned to share the snack on our ride home in the car, but friends invited us up to The Eddy while we were waiting for our grilled cheese sandwiches to be ready.
We snuck into the pub with our contraband grilled cheese and ordered drinks. The Eddy kitchen was already closed for the evening anyway, so we decided to ask forgiveness rather than permission and we made sure to leave a decent tip. We made introductions and caught up on the latest news while Jo Gore and the Alternative filled the pup with even more live music. The pub was a great way to wrap up the evening, as always. Thank you Company Shops, Saxapahaw, and all our lovely friends for a perfect Friday night.
Great photos, you always do a great job!!- next time around town come across the street, next to the post office and check out the Saxapahaw Artists Gallery. Representing over 50 “local” and “regional” artists.
Thanks for stopping by with a comment. It’s always nice to get feedback and suggestions. We have stopped by the gallery a few times in the past and really enjoy it.
