Earlier this year we took the opportunity to spend a weekend away in lovely Asheville, NC with Nate’s parents. We were staying at a new hotel and accidentally missed our turn off the highway. This lead us on a circuitous route to our hotel that took us down Swannanoa River Rd. This was serendipitous as I noticed a string of intriguing antique shops along the road and asked Nate if we could go exploring there the next day.  After a leisurely breakfast at the hotel, we hopped in our car and headed back to Swannanoa River Rd.

Reunions Antiques was our first stop.

The store has a curated feel with lots of tabletop vignettes and gorgeous big pieces of furniture. Too bad we live in a cozy house that is mostly full already because they had some beautiful stuff that I would love to take home with me.

Nate particularly liked this vintage metal fan.

I swear that I’m not normally one for chotchkies, or ceramic figurines, but this little bunny with his peeling white glaze made me want to take him home with me. I cant quite explain why, but something about the rabbit’s mouth reminds me of our Luck-y dog, River. Sadly for me, when I asked about the price I was told that the rabbit was not for sale. :(

There were, in fact, quite a few rabbit figurines around the store and I guess they were used as a permanent part of the ambiance and were not made available for sale. There was also a dragon peering over the edge of this hutch, adding a little but of unexpected fun to the store.

How cool is this photo holder with it’s crazy twisty arms and star shaped photograph holders. That base was heavy and substantial with a nice patina to it. I had thoughts of taking this loveliness home with me but alas, it also had a Not For Sale sticker on it.

Nate’s parents were happy to find ajar of pretty vintage marbles. They found a lamp base at an estate sale that has marbles for feet. They love it but one of the marble feet is missing. They are trying to find a replacement marble that is just the perfect size.
